In view of the increase in bombings in Pakistan, and the unstable security situation in the AfPak region, join us for a briefing with political analyst Jonathan Paris and journalist P.J. Mir.

The speakers will discuss the challenges facing Pakistan, analysing the internal political situation, the government’s relationship with both the Pakistani and Afghan Taliban, and how Pakistan will fit in with US and British policy towards Afghanistan.

Jonathan Paris is a Nonresident Senior Fellow with the South Asia Center of the Atlantic Council. He is a London-based political analyst specializing in South Asia and the Middle East, transatlantic relations and international security. He is also an Adjunct Fellow at Legatum Institute, Associate Fellow at the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR) at King’s College London and a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Buckingham Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies, UK.

P.J. Mir is the pioneer of political talk shows in Pakistan, having hosted the first ever political talk shows on Independent TV, after President Musharraf's opening up of the media. He speaks on extremism and terrorism, and has insider knowledge of what's going in the tribal areas through interviews and personal contacts. A former professional cricketer, he represented Pakistan in the first World Cup in 1975 in England.
