Taken from the Library's unrivalled collection of cartographic masterpieces, the exhibition brings together some of the most impressive maps ever created, many of which have never been exhibited before.
Highlights include:
- largest book in the world the Klencke Atlas (1660).
- Chinese Terrestrial Globe (1623) - the earliest Chinese terrestrial Globe, made by Jesuit missionaries for the Chinese Emperor.
- "Chart of the Mediterranean Sea" (1570) - a luxury map in gold leaf made after Homem fled from exile in Morocco.
The Library's head of maps, Peter Barber will give a presentation followed by a viewing of select pieces. Afterwards attendees have the option of going on a tour of the library.
