With the polls tightening, parties and politicians are increasingly using new forms of media to reach the electorate. Twitter, Facebook and Youtube have all been used by the main parties, with varying degrees of success. Join us for a briefing with Matthew McGregor, Director of Blue State Digital and Will Straw, Editor of the political blog Left Foot Forward, on how these new media strategies will play a role during the General Election.

Issues to be discussed include: How are the main parties using the new media and the internet? Which party has been most successful? What impact will the internet campaigns have on the election?

Matthew McGregor is London Director of Blue State Digital, an online campaign consultancy firm which provided the technology that powered the Obama campaign. He has over ten years experiences of political campaigns, both in party politics and in advocacy campaigning.

Will Straw is Editor of Left Foot Forward, a non-partisan blog for progressives that analyses British politics, news and policy developments. He has worked for the Centre for American Progress and HM Treasury. He was a Fulbright Scholar and is a former President of the Oxford University Student Union.

The speakers' opening remarks will be ON record. The Q&A will be OFF record. Filming is allowed.
